First things first...we need a hole in the wall for the door! Who messes up a perfectly good wall? We do!

Well, one huge change this year is the addition of a loading dock...located in between the ice house and the bank building. Our ice guys were very good sports about the hard winter work and now they are enjoying the fruits of their labor. It's been a long time coming...it's nice to drive the ice directly into the truck.

In the song, if you forget the part about gettin' the girl and focus on being in the real world then you get the gist. Because boy are we back from Houston to the 'real world', Goree. It's cold, again. The ice convention highlights? First, we rekindled many connections and friendships with ice folks. Second, I enjoyed the seminar on creating websites. Third, our favorite, most interesting session was the speech from an author/photographer who traced the heritage of the ice business. The fun is over and it's Monday and we are back to work. And hopefully headed into ice-mode. Bring it on~we're back in the saddle again.

A LITTLE CHRISTIAN HUMOR...
This is one of the best clean jokes I've seen in awhile! Jesus and Satan were having an on-going argument about who was better on the computer. They had been going at it for days, and frankly God was tired of hearing all the bickering.Finally fed up, God said, "THAT'S IT! I have had enough. I am going to set up a test that will run for two hours, and from those results, I will judge who does the better job." So Satan and Jesus sat down at the keyboards and typed away.

They moused.
They faxed.
They e-mailed.
They e-mailed with attachments.
They downloaded.
They did spreadsheets!
They wrote reports.
They created labels and cards.
They created charts and graphs.
They did some genealogy reports.
They did every job known to man.Jesus worked with heavenly efficiency and Satan was faster than he_ _.

Then, ten minutes before their time was up, lightning suddenly flashed across the sky, thunder rolled, rain poured, and, of course, the power went off.Satan stared at his blank screen and screamed every curse word known in the underworld.

Jesus just sighed.Finally the electricity came back on, and each of them restarted their computers. Satan started searching frantically, screaming: "It's gone! It's all GONE! "I lost everything when the power went out!"

Meanwhile, Jesus quietly started printing out all of his files from the past two hours of work. Satan observed this and became irrate. "Wait!" he screamed. "That's not fair! He cheated! How come he has all his work and I don't have any?"

God just shrugged and said, JESUS SAVES.

I just received an interesting phone call! It was obviously a young person maybe even a teen. She asked, "Are you a Jew?" I answered, "No." She continued, "Well, there is a Jewish star on your bag and then it says 'Jesus Saves'...so I was just wonderin'." My knee jerk response was, "We are Christians and we love the Jews because Jesus was a Jew." She replied, "Oh okay, I was just wonderin'."

This came in the mail today. The iceman hasn't seen it yet...and after last year when Craig and Chris gave him sore muscle rub for his 50th birthday...this may send him over the edge. I'm just kidding...he's a kidder and he can take it because he dishes it out.

No, I would like to covet your prayers, though. Yesterday at church our pastor shared that he prays for uncommon health for himself. I thought we could all use some uncommon health at any age. This bit of mail reminded me to pray for Kent to be uncommonly healthy for a fifty-one year old man. Thanks for your prayers and thanks to God in advance.

The doc finally made rounds and she was home in Goree about 7:00 pm-ish. Nana, Kent's Mom, had a great first night home, slept great! She is back in the swing of things...quiet time, paying bills, lovin' on Sophie, talkin' on the phone. She is expecting a Home Health consult this afternoon. Thanks for all your love and support. Her comment upon arriving home, "How will I ever thank everyone?"

Update on Kent's Mom: Trudy's hip...As of this morning, Nana is in Seymour's swing bed rehab program. Sophie is fine. Kent forgot to unlock the house this morning for Aunt Peg to feed and filter the litter. But, other than that all is well. Janey had a bit of a scare when Nana was chatting with the PT on the drive from WF. Nana commented that it might be better for her to go on home instead of Seymour. Tim, PT, coaxed her into a few days more of intense therapy. Whew! Kent is having withdrawals from not having his coffee drinkin' pal. She is doing great and making much progress. We cannot wait to welcome her home maybe be the end of the week or so...tootles.

The Fourth Graders from Munday Elementary visited the ice house today! Twenty-five students from Munday, Rhineland and Goree along with their two teachers were given a tour. They learned how science, economics and character development are vital to an ice company. The employees enjoyed demonstrating bagging, handling and loading. We talked about the qualities that make a good employee and how learning in school is very important for their future careers.

"A helicopter that crashed is shown Sunday, March 11, 2007, in Hanea, Hawaii. One person was killed and three people were seriously injured when the tour helicopter crashed on Kauai, the second fatal helicopter accident on the island in four days, authorities say."

This may possibly, not likely, be the helicopter that Tammie, Shea and I rode on our tour of Kauaii. Below is a pic of the actual bird we were in...same color, huh? I remember our pilot telling us that he was a pilot in the Vietnam War. And I read about the Vietnam similarity with one of the deceased pilots. We also read about a threat of a tsunami in Hawaii. Can I say, "I'm glad to be back in the mainland!"

It is finished! Tom and Les were terminating all the wires, which in laymen's terms means hookin' em up. Les had his computer hooked up to the control panel and was programming the unit. The work took two and a half days, but without these guys it would have taken a lifetime. Thanks will never be enough to express how grateful we are for their help.

Houston, We Have A Problem

During routine maintenance, water dripped down a line that led to the control panel for the ice plant. Upon hearing a loud pop, the guys ran to the rescue to find flames pouring out of the box. The damage was already done and here is what we were left with. (see picture) Kent called an area electrician that we always count on for our bigger projects. They said that they couldn't fix it this time, it was out of their league. Kent called me and said, "Tammie, this is big and we've gotta pray." You see, we know that nothing is ever out of His league.

Kent called a friend of the family, Tom, who has experience in dealing with this sort of equipment. He, inspite of his health issues, was there to help guide Kent through the clean-up and assessment of the damage. A true God-send. Later that day while on their way to eat supper at "White's", Tom admitted that they were over his head. He felt that he had proceeded as far as his experience could get them. Kent replied, "Let's sleep on it and see how it looks in the morning."

Well the night came and went, then there was morning. Tom came by to pick Kent up and head to the ice house. Upon driving up, they caught a glance of Les at the trailer park rolling up his water line preparing to go home to Amarillo. Kent said, "Tom, would you mind if I asked this guy to take a look at this with us? Les is an electrical engineer." Tom gladly agreed and before they knew it, Les was in the thick of solving the rest of their problems. Another God-send. Not only solving, but he had the skills to make this control panel better than it was before. You see, last summer on three occasions we had ice jams resulting in busted augers and mountains of ice on the floor. Next week, Les, Tom and Kent will be installing photo eyes, automatic shut-offs and an alert system. This is so far out of our league that we know it is GOD.

God allows trials and tribulations to come because of our disobedience. But in this case, sometimes they just come! And we have to trust that he has a plan to make things better than they were before. Thank you God for coming to our rescue through Tom and Les. Bless these men beyond measure.

Squeaky Clean, or not?

While cleaning one of the P-118's, Kent and the guys had a shock. Water dripped into the circuit box and it exploded. Well, God is on the job...he sent angels to the rescue. Thanks God and thanks Tom and Les for all your help. Only God can orchestrate that an electrical engineer be in the neighborhood. And Kent's quote a moment ago was, "I don't know about you but for me and my house we will serve the Lord."

We spent the weekend with Shea in Lubbock. She had a suprise for us when she took us to the movie that had been filmed in Guthrie @ the 6666 Ranch. We provided ice for the caterers that fed the cowboys and film crew. It was a neat experience. But, to watch the finished product was even better. We saw an old friend of the family on screen by the name of Joe Leathers. And lo and behold, Shea caught our name, Trainham Ice, in the credits. Thanking us for what I'm not sure, but maybe they were a little shocked that anyone would deliver ice out in the middle of nowhere. We actually need to thank them for the business and the exciting movie. So, thanks!

Among the many large, beautiful, well run ranches we scouted for the US section of the film, the Four Sixes stood out - and they were actually enthusiastic about us shooting there. We assured them that we would disrupt their work completely, ask them to do things over and over again for no apparent reason, and generally be a huge nuisance. But they persisted. Perhaps they didn't know what they were getting themselves into.The ranch headquarters is at the edge of the town of Guthrie, Texas population 200. There are no hotels there, so we imported a camp of 25 or so trailers. These were not movie-star double-wides, but moderately serviceable units with mostly working showers and occasionally working air conditioning to fend off the 100-degree Texas summer.

Hello,

I am writing to thank you for your hard work and dedication to Trainham Ice. It is because of you that we are a success. The reason I am writing is because there is a need. In the last three weeks, we have experienced break downs that aren’t normal and are very costly. I feel the business is being attacked by the evil one, Satan, who is out to destroy. I ask you to pray for your safety, the equipment, the vehicles and our customers. If necessary, pray a little thought prayer before every run or shift. Something as simple as, “Lord, cover us and the equipment in the blood of Jesus. Amen.”

We serve a mighty God who loves and cares for each one of us, so pray for His protection. I care about you and your well being, also. I encourage you to read Ephesians 6:10-18. If we are in a battle, which we are, then let’s fight to win. I’m proud of you and thanks again for your hard work. I want you to know that Tammie and I pray for you, your happiness, and your finances often.

Happy Birthday Iceman!
Well, I'll probably get in big trouble for this one. But not as much trouble as his nephews and nieces for the 'muscle rub'. Kent, you know what they say, you just get better with age. I don't know if anyone has noticed, but (finally) Kent has taken more of a management role in the business. It may and it may not have anything to do with his age? He is blessed to have three or more drivers that take on the majority of the ice delivering. Well Kent, I am praying for "50" more great years!

The Ark Forgot To Load The Ice

This year there was a flood in the Lake Stamford area. The last thing on people's mind was chasing a floating ice merchandizer. We located one, but the other is still MIA. Our heart goes out to those who were caught in this devastation. It was such a rare occurance, especailly now since we are drought stricken.

'Big Blue' finally landed

These were the days leading up to and the day that the Vogt P-24 ice machine was delivered. It was a nail-biting experience. Kent's cousin, Greg, used his tractor to move around some dirt. Thank you for the hand Greg. This machine produces 20 tons of ice a day for our company. Great day to get behind ya.

We manufacture ice in Goree, Texas, which is about 70 miles northwest of Graham. We have the ability to produce 30 tons of ice per day. Our storage capacity in Goree is approximately 40 pallets. We have a distribution center that holds 30 pallets on the east side of Possum Kingdom Lake. As for our delivery vehicles, we have two bobtail trucks, a tractor-trailer truck, two pick-up and trailer units and several activity trailers. Most of our employees have been with us for years and have become like family.
